The husband and wife team of Colleen and Ryan Neider are the creators of Baby Songbird. Colleen got the idea for creating a children’s developmental video series of her own while watching her first son enjoy similar videos. The idea of introducing him to classical music, art, language and science at an early age appealed to her. She wanted to take these and add a story element to her future series that would illustrate the relationships between things in the world as well as spark a child’s imagination. She knew Ryan who had worked in the video game industry for 5 years as an artist and animator could help her with the visuals. Colleen and Ryan have three children together.
At the outset of the project when the Neiders were looking for a musician to play Baby Songbird’s classical music they moved into a new home. They ended up finding a great musician by the name of Barbie Elliott living only two houses down from them. What luck! Ryan and Colleen love working with Barbie because she is such a musical talent. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in composition, is blind and performed Smarty Symphony’s all by ear. Barbie has four children with her husband Walt.
