If you are a mom with a great product idea and don't want to travel the long road from idea to final product alone, your first stop should be Parents of Invention! Submit your idea to them and they just may help you to bring your product to the market! A must-see, for sure.
Another great place to go is Mom Inventors. If you've created an invention and want it carried in their store check out their wholesale information. There's also some very inspiring stories like this one, from a 52-year old mom with a very simple idea that's making millions!
Founder Tamara Monosoff has also written a terrific How-To book for wannabe inventors.
Why not create a line of gourmet cake icings? Flavours like Lemon White Chocolate Cream Cheese and Lavender Vanilla. You know those women who love to bring pretentious stuff to the school bake sale or to the baby shower? You know they only have the same 24 hours as you, so how do they do it? They stress out and snap at their family while they slave over their uppity goods, that's how. Make their day, but make them pay. How does $6 for a Duncan Hines-sized container of icing sound? I paid $6 for a tiny container of pear puree once. Stupid? Yes. But trust me when I say there are more where I came from. Personally, I hate store-bought icing. It's too sweet and too fake. But I have never seen homemade icing in the grocery store. I know this business could do well because it's original. There are quite a few organic, fresh frozen baby food companies out there and they're all doing well, despite most moms making their own food or buying jarred organic stuff. I would do this as a business if I had time. As for a name, how about simply "le gateau" (cake)? Perfectly pretentious.
